What Stitch is best for patches?
Run the needle back through the uniform about 1/4” (6mm) from where you brought it out.
- For patches, a straight stitch is not only the easiest but the quickest way to sew the patch on.
- A straight stitch will also be the least visible.
How do you sew on a military patch?
To sew a patch on a uniform by hand, position the patch and hold it in place with pins or fabric tape. Take a threaded needle and poke the needle from the inside of your garment out. Push the needle back through the patch and uniform, about 1/4 inch from the first hole.
Is it better to sew or iron on a patch?
Sew on patches are great too. They add more flexibility to the garment on which the patch is attached. So, if you don’t want your patch to be a little stiff, you can have the iron on backing eliminated and once it’s sewn on, the patch can flow a bit with the fabric.

Please remember to stitch all badges on facing outwards. All Activity / Staged Activity Badges go on the Left sleeve, in any order, starting at the top. Members should not wear ANY Badges on their Uniform until after Investiture.
How do I create a patch?
Creating a patch using WinMerge Use File -> Open to open the two versions for comparison. This will give you a nice view of what you have changed. Then do Tools -> Generate patch. In the dialogue box, make sure you select Style: Unified in the Format box.
